Promo Stuff

Some of the neatest Simpsons collectables involve promo stuff. This is because they are never made available to the public. This, for example, is the promotion from Spencer's Gifts that ended July 11, 2001. Entrants could send away and tell why "Your Dad Is Like Homer Simpson"...God forbid. How about because he is fat, bald and likes beer? That's not my dad (well he's not fat anyway). The winner won a trip to Hollywood. I didn't enter but wanted the promo anyway since I am just days away from becoming a father myself. By the time you read this, I may already be a father. Wendy is due July 15, 2001. It pays to make friends with the employees at stores that have Simpsons promotions or sell Simpsons merchandise (7-11, Burger King, Spencers, etc).

1990 Burger King Figures

Here are the 5 Simpsons Figures (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie) that were from Burger King back in 1990. I had not started collecting back then so I don't know if you had to buy them or they were given away as part of a promotion. I wasn't sure whether to put these under promos or figures since they are kind of both. I never intended on buying them but there is a store near me that has the entire set for sale for $100. I thought that was kind of expensive. A few weeks later, I saw all 5 on eBay for around $20 and decided I couldn't live without them (lol). Next thing I knew, here they are. This is one of the few items I have not taken out of the original plastic wrap...yet.

Got Milk?

Even though this is technically not a promo, I think it is cool enough to mention here. It is one of the "Got Milk" ads that featured Lisa and Bart. The show has been running for 12 years now and the Simpsons are one of the most recognizable families on television.
